LPT: Don't buy the BurstProtect or FloodSafe hoses that come with a pressure-sensing valve. These expensive hoses have a special valve that is designed to close if the hose were to burst. This sounds good, but many modern appliances like clothes and dishes washers cycle between fully open and fully closed rapidly, simulating what a burst hose looks like from the hose's point of view. Over time these hoses will work themselves closed and you'll spend $100+ on a service call trying to figure out what is wrong.

Spend less money and just get high quality braided steel hoses, and if you're really nervous you can set a calendar alert five or seven years into the future so you can replace the hoses according to the manufacturer's schedule.
Throw a cup of white vinegar in the wash with towels.
And leave the washer door open when you're not using it.  It fills with water, and stagnant moisture grows mold.
